Me at Galilee Lutheran Church. (That's Carl Banner, pianist, for all you search engines out there...) All recent photos on this blog are by artist Marilyn Banner.

All I have of composer Sidney Bailin is the back of his head, with his wife Heike at the Czech Embassy in October.

Composer Alexandra Gardner - at the performance of her beautiful quartet "Crows". All the photos of the composers at this event are out of focus - what does that mean? They are shy and avoid the limelight? Or Marilyn just couldn't catch them standing still?

At the Sitar Center; I don't know who these people are, but I probably should! They look interested and interesting.

Elizabeth Kluegel, soprano. She really does have a beautiful voice. You know, the kind of voice that when you hear it right next to you, you want to turn around and say, "Marry me!"

Joel Borelli-Boudreau - he will be premiering Larry Moss' Dickinson Songs with Gary Poster in February. An all around great musician!

Jodi Beder and Zizi. They performed "The Which", improvisation against digital loops, on a ground from Donovan's "Season of the Witch". The audience loved it.

Here's Ben, really wailing, and yes that's a bari sax! He says he's got some stuff for us to do together, just bari and piano.

And here is the singer, Jeffery Peterson. He was a wild man in the Jezek! Behind him is Joel Borelli-Boudreau, with trombone and a rack full of mutes.

Marilyn got some great pictures from the Sitar Center concert last Sunday. Here are Davy DeArmond, Harold Summey, Rhonda, & Ben Redwine playing Morton or Jezek. This was a red hot band!

My name in lights!
Played solo program last night - it was good! About 60 in the audience, mostly parishioners, but Rix and Elizabeth showed up, which was very nice. Standing ovation! Mar and I celebrated over black russians at the Royal Mile. And I even made some money (when was the last time THAT happened?). Pastor Hank Simon pointed out that Joplin's Cascades Rag was written for the 1904 World's Fair in our hometown, St. Louis. And there was a fountain built in Forest Park called the Cascades.

"Attended a fun concert by Washington Musica Viva on Sunday....a mix of classical and jazz from DC composers past and present. WMV performances always feel like a party - as more concerts should!"
(from composer Alexandra Gardner's blog, now transferred to her website http://www.jigsawmusic.org/bookofdays.htm)
We are preparing Alex's quartet "Crows" for next Sunday. I have been wanting to perform Crows for almost 7 years! Since I heard a tape of it at a conference in NY. Well, it took awhile to get it together. I listened to it through my new ipod at Bethany beach a couple of weeks ago, accompanied by breakers - perfect!
